Students learned that scientists often use many draft to make their scientific drawings as accurate as possible. Students learned about ways to improve their drawings like asking advice from another scientists!
Students learned that poets often view normal objects in special ways! Students observed objects and thought about each in different ways!
We kicked off our new writing unit by exploring poetry through different centers! In our new science unit, Nature's Partners, we are learning about the relationship between insects and plants. Students will grow brassica plants and observe caterpillars to learn about pollination!
Students watched "Calder Re- Wired" a performance about the art and life of Alexander Calder. Students loved learning more about this artist's life and work! Thank you to Ms. Goldfarb for arranging this visit!
To celebrate ending our unit studying different series,, students debated which series was the best! Students chose their favorite series then gathered evidence about characters, favorite part and lessons! Students practiced their debate skills by saying more about one idea! We are heading into a unit studying Folktales, Fables and Fairytales next!
Students were able to investigate the big map of Africa today! They made great discoveries about Africa including that almost all capital cities are located near water! If you are interested in exploring the Big Map as a family head to the Bowman website to sign up! Students explored different arrays and identified rows and columns within the array. Students then used skip counting or repeated addition to figure out how many in all!
Students brainstormed different ways to share books they love! We decided to write letters, book sneak peaks, bookmarks and scripts! Then student got together in partnership to swap some of their favorite books!
